The Muslim of Myanmar Multi-Ethnic Consultative Committee (MMMCC) and the Myanmar Hindu Union (MHU) convened their inaugural joint meeting on March 3.

The meeting brought together MHU members, MMMCC representatives, and independent participants from within Myanmar, border areas, and abroad. As religious minorities in Myanmar, representatives shared common experiences of oppression, addressed current political challenges, and outlined strategic steps forward.

From this foundational meeting, the MMMCC and MHU agreed to join forces on a 5-Point Joint Accord:

Combatting Discrimination: Fighting all forms of racial and religious discrimination through a citizenship-based framework.

Ending Mandatory Religious/Ethnic Labelling: Advocating for the removal of racial and religious identification requirements on national IDs, job applications, and official government procedures nationwide.

Counterspeech & Regulations: Actively opposing and banning hate speech and derogatory racial terminology.

Minority Rights: Championing equal rights and protection for minority communities.

Human Rights Protections: Standing firmly against all human rights violations.

Both organizations reaffirmed their commitment to partnering with like-minded democratic political allies. They pledge to continue the pursuit of a federal democratic system rooted in freedom, justice, and absolute equality—working to dismantle discrimination based on age, disability, gender identity, marital status, race, or religion across the nation.
